Charlie kirk was an a******, but he didn't deserve to be shot, he deserved to be proven wrong. My mother used to say" So you sow, so shall you reap"; my thoughts exactly. He was not a nice guy - or Christian. I try to follow the Golden Rule, do unto others as you would want to be done to you. If you thought stuff was political before, you ain't seen nothing yet. (Sorry for all the platitudes...)
🧵I’d put it slightly differently, because these are desperate times:
Extremists & zealots of EVERY stripe should not “calm down”. They should be SHUNNED, and EXCLUDED, and VILIFIED, and every other negative verb we can think of.
And we need to keep young people with unformed & poorly formed brains from being able to access guns!
What was that I saw the other day: A 12-year-old with ideations of school shootings, was arrested with a veritable ARSENAL in their bedroom, 😖‼️
🧵Indeed! Where were they? His mother never went into his room, never told him to pick his guns up off the floor, dust them, & and put them away neatly, 🙄😒⁉️
It didn't take prognostication to know this sad occurrence was going to immediately go off the rails.💥
From the crack shot, to the predictable far-right's rush to judgement that it 'must've been the Democrats'. Imagine their shock & horror when it was the son of one of their own! A Mormon, republican-supporting family, who's son was the shooter.
Now the 22-year old is being denigrated for his lifestyle (quitting university), political choices & who he was possibly dating.
It's not bad enough that Trump immediately called for the death penalty, which Utah still employs.
Tyler Robinson's family gently encouraged their son to give himself up, and they too are being faulted in this spectacle.
The 22-year-old will likely spend the rest of his life incarcerated for what many see as a service to the country.
Charlie Kirk was an ideologue. One whose negative ideas outweighed any positives.
But here's the thing. As we all decry gun violence and the killing of any human being, MAGA Republicans can be read touting revenge against the left! An all out war against pretty much everything that doesn't suit their version of America. Even worse? Utah's penal system still uses a firing squad, largely because lethal injection has proven to be less than successful.
Where are our better selves? The people we let others think we are, but are wont to find when push comes to shove.
As a kid of the 60s, I want to believe that we can work together; to be the actualization of our better selves. But it's tough. I never saw this kind of extremist hate or political polarization in America.
Such a good illustration of my wordy point, MdA. 🌺
Can't say either way about Kirk-I never wanted to watch his podcast! No one should be gunned down, but he lived by the gun and has hence Died by a gun!
Another one I don't get. I understand the judges but who's sitting in the chair? How does it relate to the government overreach? As for the situation I'm tired of random people on the internet equating indifference and or pleasure that he's gone to being glad he was shot. I disagree with the violence but I'm not sad he's gone. He was a very polarizing and toxic figure and his rhetoric won't be missed
The MAGAts are having orgasms about Kirk; reveling in their "grief". This is exactly what they've been looking for. Tyler Robinson has done them a huge favor.
I never heard of Kirk (except the Captain) until the news of his death. Since then I have been trying to find out what his celebrity was about. One thing really jumped out - his change in attitude toward Israel, the hateful texts he then received along with threats to stop funding his efforts and his final interviews in which he expressed fear about what might happen to him.
Just shaking my head.
I just read that a Pennsylvania lawmaker (my home state) has plans to introduce legislation to establish Charlie Kirk Day as a state holiday.
HELP!
His birth date or death date - both are bad second would be the worst
Agree!
Ugh, gross.

🧵Pardon me, a 13-year-old, 😒‼️

Holy moly! That's some good parenting! /s

Do these asshole Republicans realize how horrible they’re making themselves look?
Well anything to distract from the Epstein Files. 🙄
The ongoing tragedy of the decline and fall of the USA! It’s only taken Trump nine months to almost destroy a once powerful nation! Astonishing!

Charlie Kirk
Was a jerk,
whose views I did abhor.
But I didn’t want a bullet
To silence him.
I like frauds exposed
In the clear light of day.
Making America Great
Means losing the hate.

The correct answer: "Who is Charlie Kirk?"
I heard that!
