Even though the NFL is the most popular sport in the United States with approximately a 137 million fans watching games on TV each weekend, there are still millions of Americans who don't know much about the NFL.
In contrast, the Four Nations Face Off championship game between the US and Canada drew only 9.3 million viewers. So there were about 330,000,000 Americans who didn't watch And probably know less about NHL jerseys than I do.
I happened to have lived in states that have very little interest in the NHL. I admire everyone with who is an expert. Consider yourself admired.
I grew up with college hockey at Wisconsin then moved to Minnesota, “The State of Hockey” for employment.
It’s too bad that you never had the chance to watch Minnesota’s boys state hockey tournament. There is nothing like it in the U.S. for the 4 day event. Between class A and AA, it draws 100k fans to the Excel Energy center in St. Paul. There is a reason why MN has more of its players in college and in the pros than any other state.

Wayne Gretzky was the greatest Hockey player to wear skates. He played for the Edmonton Oilers and won several Championships and MVP awards. He went into coaching and I think he is a GM somewhere. This is all I know.
