I knew it was going to happen to deAdder. Hedge funds like Chatham Asset Management contribute to this and cause a chilling effect on editorial freedom. Their influence spreads across the U.S. and Canada, impacting the media landscape and silencing moderate voices like Ohman, Pett, Siers, and deAdder. The way they were all let go shows how coordinated and pervasive this trend has become.

I knew this as well. I just thought I had more time to plan. They got us to sign a contract. I thought I had a year.

It's not my place to offer advice, other than to express my hopes that you are getting good professional legal advice.

Its so ... tiresome? Maddening? Infuriating? .... what's happening in Canada as an infection from our neighbours to the south.

Best wishes to you, with genuine thanks for your work to date.

This makes it worse. I’m so sorry.

And looking at that bigger picture, the right wing oligarchy is continuing to grow. Perhaps we need a vaccine. Oh wait, we can vote and choose to spend our elusive discretionary dollar in other places.

When Roy Peterson was fired from the Vr. Sun, I quit the newspaper! Editors have no sense of humour nor sense. I have a cartoon of his...also Bruce McKinnon..but I REALLY WANT a deAdder or 3, not that much wall space!~

I can get you an original. I may start selling them on here. Give me time to figure this one out. These days you have to promote and come up with several ways of making a buck. Just to survive.

Do. Keith Knight, different category of cartoonist yet similar boat, sells his stuff. I own an original Bloom County from the ‘80s. It’s a prized possession. Your work is brilliant.

This is so messed up. I’m so sorry you and those others have had to endure this bs, it’s not right. I hope it works out for you. This makes me angry and sad because it’s like anyone who tries to speak up is silenced from speaking the truth. These greedy jerks trying to stifle everything but their own biased beliefs, it’s disgusting. You did not deserve that, none of those talented people did. Thank you for your article, it was very good and the cartoons are great! 🥰💙

Oh my what a shock! Mr. de Adder, you are my favorite political cartoonist and I would be interested in one of your incredible pieces as well! This firing has shocked me as I have loved you in the Washington Post and was very upset when they dropped you from that. I am going to write them AGAIN to bring you back! You are the BEST!

Hedge Funds and Private Equity firms are buying up media outlets, housing units, businesses as diverse as veterinarians and assisted living centers, and many other society necessities, all for the purpose of raising costs for consumers, as they cut their own costs by firing workers, thus enriching themselves. Their cost cutting firings run along ideological lines in media, and whistle blowers in businesses. I am sorry Michael and the other editorial cartoonists are suffering the cancelation of free speech by right-wing authoritarian conglomerates. We are all paying the price of financial chicanery and monopolistic greed. We cannot vote the fpotus back in power if we want any chance to reverse the course of toxic capitalism.

What can we do? How can we help? Letters to the editor? Exposing Chatham & calling out their censorship on MSM? Big money controls ALL our Media!

Political cartoons are powerful! How can we use them to reach more people?

We need a Platform for the People that encourages positivity, exposes greed & deceit and builds community and connectivity with empathy, compassion and honest, trustworthy information.

If we build it will they come? + How can we compensate contributors?
