First, sorry I wasn’t there in person to receive this storied award. Last minute personal issues made it impossible to attend. I almost had the ticket in my hand before fate snatched it from my grasp.
Second, thanks for naming me Editorial Cartoonist of the Year for my work at the Washington Post.
It’s not easy to judge these things. I have done it myself. It’s hard to pick when you have talents like my fellow nominees like Michael Ramirez [The Washington Post] and Reuben Bolling. [Tom the Dancing Bug]
