AI in my opinion is like cryptocurrency; it doesn’t add much. Crypto is apparently good for money laundering and other nefarious uses. AI helps people who don’t know how to think and write. At my company they keep pushing us to use it. If they think they can let go entry-level employees, they’re in for a big shock. As they say, you get what you pay for.
We are seeing the greater issues AI is posing play out in real time. Grok formulated racist comments based on it's aggregate data input & conclusions it was asked to make based on X-users comments. It's such a Red platform that its biases are there for all to see.
In another separate but equally disturbing AI turn, Mark Zuckerberg's AI that's used across its entire META platform (Facebook, Instagram, Messages etc) has hit a serious problem. The AI has arbitrarily shut down millions of its user accounts with no.notice & rarely a reason given. Even "Verified" (ie: Paid!) users are locked out!
Staff cuts have meant that there is little to no human online staff to sort out the problem, and there are no immediate remedies in sight! META AI is running on its own. AND, it's been going on for months!
In a funny, but not to be taken lightly twist, so many millions of users in North Korea are without access to their FB accounts that North Korea has sent a letter to Zuckerberg/META 'demanding' that it prioritize North Korea in re-establishing users connection to their accounts!
Even more curious is the lack of media attention! It's a serious issue affecting countries around the world, but most people don't know a thing about it! I only learned about it myself because a friend in FLA had her FB/Instagram account shut three weeks ago and has yet to be reinstated. She's no internet neophyte. She's tech experienced and a problem solver! This has her seething.
A Google Search will show that early reports of META's AI failures have been going on since at least April 2025!
AI will always require human oversight. But the trend to train AI, then fire the very people who oversee that data and it's use, is the reason we're seeing the very serious problems that are arising!
