That's exactly what he said! You have expressed exactly how he must have been feeling!
Poor delusional man-child :(
I've been thinking about compulsive liars. The Alcoholics Anonymous book we studied in our Faith & Science discussion group opened my eyes to this phenomenon and of denialism in general.
Once people run into a conflict (like addiction of any kind) where they know what they're doing is wrong/harmful, but it makes them feel so good momentarily, especially when they can do it socially and feel accepted by others - they lie to themselves about it, no longer admitting the truth.
They refuse to give it up, so you could say their consciences are seared, devoid of feeling regarding their addiction, and they no longer can tell right from wrong. This condition easily spreads in the judgement centre of their brains, because lies justify their behaviour and make them feel good, invincible. They even deny there will be obvious consequences - even when they've experience those consequences.
I've seen video clips of people wearing MAGA hats being convinced of the illogic of their beliefs, but sadly they probably went back to their friends and relatives and immersed themselves in the lies again, because it felt good.
Denialism is a real problem in the world! People who have been taken over by that virus come to believe their own lies - Trump is a perfect example of this. He does not have a little angel on his shoulder whispering "you just told a lie". He's hoping that he has confused enough voters as to whose truth to believe, to allow him to assume Dictatorship... but last night in the debate Kamala challenged his belief about his rally sizes, and in your great cartoon you revealed his (momentary?) vulnerability perfectly!
Don't think he won't bounce back though... he's still surrounded and propped up by the multitude of deluded and greedy stooges to whom he's promised a large share of his success. This election will be a contest between truth and delusion.
