im checking out your archilve looking for a chronical list of the100 Worst Things of Trump's Presidency and came upon this doozy! A picture is worth 1000 words, huh> Amazing depiction of a really really unfortunate situation. xoxoxoxo
Having made the same point in one of my blog posts, (https://davidlsmith.substack.com/) I was taken to task by a woman who said that given McConnell's unwillingness to put forth Obama's nominee (Garland) during the final 2 years of the Obama administration, that it was unfair to criticize RBG for not resigning when she had the chance. That's only partially true.
RBG was diagnosed with colon cancer in 1999 and pancreatic cancer in 2009, both of which she appeared to be fighting successfully. The last opportunity she had to resign while Obama still had a majority in the Senate was 2015, 6 years after her 2009 diagnosis. She thought Hillary would prevail in 2016, so she held out past 2015, only to find herself blocked for the next 6 years by McConnell and Trump. At that point her only alternative was to hold on in hopes Biden would win and take office in January 2021. Tragically, she failed to make it by 4 months., dying September 18, 2020 at age 87.
I offer this analysis to warn you that you might face some pushback, especially from women if you publish this cartoon. To defend the cartoon, you will then have to make the argument that she should have resigned in 2015, 5 years before she died.
PS. How do you like my cartoon at the end of my piece?
